In the evolution of the Late Night Tales mix series from showcasing acts like Zero 7 and Groove Armada into a more self-aware series of homages to yacht rock and MOR 1980s pop over the past decade, it's comfortably occupied that place where music taste seems performative yet sincere, aware of its potentially embarrassing tendencies but not entirely inclined to care.

For their second release on red-hot London house label Hypercolour, veteran UK electronica stars Groove Armada ramp up the energy from the deep house found on their No Knock EP to the full-on party stomping beats of "Pull Up." MC Slarta John is best known for his debut on Basement Jaxx 's 1999 hit " Jump'N Shout ," and the MC's forceful dancehall cadence runs riot over this duo's electrifying analog synth melodies and rapid-fire 16th-note rhythms.

Fronted by Jeff Martin of The Tea Party, The Armada aims to encompass the tone of The Tea Party, while moving it forward. The band was formed when Jeff Martin and Wayne Sheehy met in an Irish Pub. The two hit it off immediately and soon started making music together.[1] The name of the band refers to the Spanish Armada: "We were like, what is this?"� said.
