 Quick facts about Ellison
There are two bands by this name: a psychedelic/garage band from Montreal, Quebec and an Australian emo band. As per lastfm policy, please DO NOT delete references to either band. 1) Ellison released their sole, self-titled album in 1971. Little is known about the band. However the music has been described as “great guitar work and a real downer vibe that gives the album a scary intensity” (Freak Emporium). The music has a late period garage rock vibe with some use of spooky sound effects and tight playing. The band were francophones and the idiosyncratic English of tracks such as “Winter Slutch” (Winter Slush) and “Strawberry Pain” (Strawberry Rain) give it an additional charm. Since its cd reissue by Gear Fab records, it has become a favourite of psych rock fans. 2) It's been four years since the band released their last album, Color of Compassion EP in 2008. Ellison now returns with a new album. Brighter Than Sunlight will be the bands fourth studio album, and has been in the works for over three years. The sound of Ellison continues to mature with each album the band releases. Brighter Than Sunlight is set to be release summer of 2012. The sound of Ellison has been described as having some of the trademarks of "Emo,"� but with a more graceful, grown-up edge. With great honor, the band has been compared to the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Copeland, and Cartel.
