It hasn’t been very long at all since Maroon 5 released their hit album Overexposed. The record achieved platinum status recently, and saw tracks like “Payphone” and “Daylight” receive a great deal of attention. Maroon 5 is already planning for a 31-date summer tour that is slated to begin August 1st with Kelly Clarkson, and they’re even planning a follow-up album. Front man Adam Levine has promised that the group is hard at work on the new material, and that it will have a darker edge to it than Overexposed. No further details have been made available regarding a possible release date.

Maroon 5 plans to keep busy this summer. The group has announced a huge summer tour with Kelly Clarkson. The tour will begin August 1st in St. Louis, and Clarkson is expected to be there for the festivities. Maroon 5 are no strangers to big summer tours, and this particular tour is expected to be their biggest one to date. The shows will emphasize outdoor venues, and the group will likely play a solid mix of their greatest hits. Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch them live over the course of this tour. It ends October 5th in San Diego.

Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine gave the men’s and women’s tennis teams of St. Ambrose University quite a surprise recently, when he accepted one of the member’s invitation to play a few games with them when the band came through Moline. Freshman player Mitch Schumacher didn’t think much would come out of sending Valentine a tweet to invite him to come by and play. It’s easy then to imagine his, not to mention the rest of the players, surprise when Valentine showed up, played several games, and even took the time to pose for a few photographs with the students.

Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine admits now that when the massive reality show hit, The Voice was first offered to him, he was extremely skeptical. Levine wasn’t certain he would care for the sort of atmosphere generally associated with these kinds of shows. But since joining the series, which nets him 10-12 million dollars per season, Levine has come to find that the opportunity and experiences from the show to be very positive. Levine discussed this and more recently with The Hollywood Reporter, and added that he feels his honesty is one of the reasons why viewers have connected with him.

Maroon 5 is a Grammy Award-winning American pop band. Formed in Los Angeles, United States, originally known as Kara’s Flowers, the group comprises five members: Adam Levine (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Valentine (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar), and Matt Flynn (drums, percussion). Songfacts reports that their 2011 single, Moves Like Jagger, topped the American charts and sold over a million copies in just over 20 weeks in the UK, despite failing to top the chart there. Maroon 5 originally started out in Los Angeles as an alternative rock/power pop band called Kara’s Flowers in 1995. The lineup consisted of Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Ryan Dusick, and Mickey Madden. They released two albums before parting ways with their record label. In 2002, they changed their name to Maroon 5 when guitarist James Valentine joined the band. Maroon 5 has won several awards for its debut album Songs About Jane. Released in June 2002, the album enjoyed major chart success, going gold, platinum, and triple platinum in many countries around the world. In support of Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 toured extensively throughout 2003 "“ 2005, in which a live album was released, entitled Live - Friday the 13th.
