Ed Sheeran's Unique Backyard Addition: A Gravesite for the Future

Ed Sheeran, the acclaimed singer, recently made an intriguing revelation during an interview with GQ. He shared that he has a unique feature in his backyard, a gravesite. However, he clarified that it's not a crypt but rather a thoughtful space with a deeper purpose.

A Thoughtful Backyard Addition

Sheeran explained that this area in his backyard also serves as a chapel where some of his friends have tied the knot. The "Shape of You" singer went on to elaborate that this space is intended for individuals close to him who have chosen cremation as their posthumous arrangement.

"It’s a hole that’s dug in the ground with a bit of stone over it, so whenever the day comes and I pass away, I get to go in there," Sheeran added. This unconventional choice has raised some eyebrows, and many might perceive it as morbid or strange. Still, Sheeran justified his decision by highlighting a significant issue he has witnessed among friends.

A Unique Perspective on Preparedness

Ed Sheeran's decision to have a gravesite in his backyard stems from a genuine concern for the well-being of his loved ones. He shared, "People think it’s really weird and really morbid, but I’ve had friends die without wills, and no one knows what to do." This concern reflects Sheeran's thoughtful and caring nature, as he seeks to provide a solution for a problem that often goes unaddressed.

New Album Release

While Ed Sheeran has made an unusual addition to his backyard, he is currently focused on his music career. He recently released his latest album, "Autumn Variations," through his record label, Gingerbread Man Records, on September 29. The album is a reflection of the changes and transitions he and his friends have experienced in their lives.

Sheeran explained the inspiration behind the album, stating, "Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head, or imploded." The songs in the album explore a range of emotions, from the highs of falling in love and forming new friendships to the lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness, and confusion.

While Ed Sheeran's gravesite may seem unconventional, it's a testament to his caring and practical nature. As he continues to create music that resonates with his experiences and those of his friends, he remains a unique and thoughtful figure in the music industry.
