Nickelback are taking Everything Under the Sun on the road next year, with Don Broco on the bill. The tour was announced yesterday, October 9. It starts in Pittsburgh on February 6 and reaches Australia in October, taking in North America, the UK and Europe along the way. The album itself is out on October 30, well before the first concert.

Don Broco aren't a completely new name in Nickelback's recent recording story. The bands worked together on “Nightmare Tripping,” the title song from Don Broco's latest album. If you're wondering why these two acts are sharing a tour, there is already a track to go back to. That doesn't tell us what either set will sound like; it does give the pairing a history.

This will be Nickelback's eleventh studio album. Their previous one, Get Rollin', came out in 2022. Three tracks from the new record are already available: “Rattle the Cage,” which features John 5, “Leave Me Behind” and “Make Me Love You.” Fans have something to play while waiting for October 30. We'd save a verdict on the album until the rest of it is out.

Three stretches of the route

  • North America: Pittsburgh on February 6, with the announced US arena run reaching San Antonio on May 1. A separate Mexico City date is listed for May 7.
  • UK and Europe: Leeds on May 22, London on May 25 and further dates through Copenhagen on July 13.
  • Australia: Perth on October 2, followed by dates including Melbourne and Sydney. The announced final Australian date is October 16.

There is quite a wait between some of those dates. Pittsburgh comes more than three months after the album; the Australian finish is almost a year after it. Booking for February and booking for the following October are different commitments. The long list of cities is split into runs, with breaks between regions. It isn't one unbroken stretch of nightly concerts.

Put that alongside First Aid Kit's compact January UK and Ireland itinerary, which we covered this week: nine shows in eleven days. You can see the whole of that run in one short period on a calendar. With Nickelback, the first question for a travelling fan is which part of the year they can make, then which city. Counting the venues on the poster doesn't help much with either choice.

Artist presales start on October 13 at 10am local time. General sales follow on October 16, also at 10am local time, and other presales have regional rules. On an itinerary this wide, don't treat 10am as a single worldwide opening time. Check the event you want. The bill needs a check too: Don Broco aren't listed for the February 27 Hondo Rodeo date. A special-guest announcement for a tour can still have exceptions.
