Confidence Lyrics

[Intro]

Mulher negra

Forte e sem limite, a gente não merecemos você

Mesmo em sua divinidade, você é humilde

[Verse 1]

I just need you to know that, girl

As hard as it's been to grow, we've got to grow together

We been through sun, rain, and snow

And only one thing changes, all this information

It's not your fault

That some things that you want

Seem so far out of reach

But you just have to see

That you can have anything you want

And everything you need

We could be strong together

If we just come together

[Chorus]

Black girl

You've gotta have confidence

And it feels like we've only got ourselves

And it seems like there's no one there to help

Confidence (Oh yeah, black girl, uh)

[Verse 2]

Do you remember all of the times that, girl

You thought you were goin' out of your mind?

There's no one that's goin' harder

Remember that you're a queen (Remember that you're a queen)

And I'm right here on your team (I'm right here)

Oh yeah

Super-intelligent, young president

Gold-shimmering melanin, sun resident

You're a black skin queen like a nighttime scene

Sweet cinnamon melodies so feminine

You're systematically reduced to hair buns and boobs

Let the world know your truth, not the narrative we're used to

Girl, I know your depth, I know you're so complex

See, if it ain't your sex, you can't ignore the effects of complexion

It ain't fair, upon reflection

The way you're navigating passive aggression

Here's an idea, here's somethin' I see

Sense your heart should be ice, but you're warm like tea

Black sister (Black sister)

Where you at, yo? (Where you at, yo?)

You've got a million things on your back, girl (Back, girl)

See, even when the world is an attacker (Attacker)

You're the beauty in it, you're the soundtrack, girl (Soundtrack, girl)

[Chorus]

Black girl (Oh yeah, black girl, oh)

You've gotta have confidence (Hey, black girl)

And it feels like we've only got ourselves (Mmm)

And it seems like there's no one there to help (Mmm)

Confidence (Confidence)

[Bridge]

Yeah, destined for success since birth

Girl, I hope you know your worth, yeah

Deep inside, you hold the key

You're a beautiful queen

[Chorus]

Black girl (Oh yeah, black girl, oh)

You've gotta have confidence (Oh yeah, black girl)

And it feels like we've only got ourselves (Ahh)

And it seems like there's no one there to help (Ahh)

Confidence (Confidence)

[Outro]

Oh, somebody's loving you, are you loving yourself?

Take a look in the mirror, girl, you're worth it

And whilst you're there loving you, tell somebody else

Take a look at your family, girl, we're perfect

(Black girl)
