Proxy Love Lyrics

[Verse 1]

Take a leaf out of my book

I am the captain of my ship

I am no slave, I'm no one's serf

I stoop my back to no one's whims, yeah

[Verse 2]

Your limbs protrude like minarets

Your flesh exudes a call to prayer

It beckons me through moon and star

A wasted soul crying out mercy

[Pre-Chorus]

Subversive (everybody)

Put me on hold

Subversive (everybody)

But I don't know why

[Chorus]

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

We know it's arbitrary

But why should we care?

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

Something extraordinary

Although why should we care?

[Verse 3]

So take a leaf out of my book

I am the captain of my ship

If you wanna take a crown you don't ask first

You seize it with a bumptious wrist

[Pre-Chorus]

Subversive (everybody)

Put me on hold

Subversive (everybody)

But I don't know why

[Chorus]

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

We know it's arbitrary

But why should we care?

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

It's so extraordinary

When you can have your share

[Bridge]

Hold me, tease me, squeeze me, please me

Whisper words tender and sleazy

I am so bad, discipline me

Stretch me out, I'll take the whip (x4)

[Chorus]

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

We know it's arbitrary

But would should we care?

We yearn for love

That's what we're dreaming of

Something extraordinary

But who said life was fair?
