Uninspired Lyrics

Lately, I've been feeling uninspired

Like, I don't want to write no more, should I retire

People all around me always asking me for favors

And I never ask for anything back like a good neighbor

Shit, they forget real quick what you have done for 'em

But that don't even matter cos you got nothing but love for 'em

But sometimes you really wish they weren't so ignorant

And hope that soon enough they'll be a little more considerate

Like, I was there when your child was born

And when you make it, I can say I've known you from before

When you were bored and you really wasn't sure, that music was the answer you were seeking in your soul

I know that feeling, when you just want to leave it

Cos it seems like over time it's just not the same thing you believed in

I've been there, homie but music is my plan B

I gotta graduate and then maybe I'll be an emcee

(Cairo: Ohhh! This must be the famous revolutionary Huey Freeman

Isn't this the brother who used to be your homeboy, but then he ran away to-

Huey: Nah, nah, I didn't run

Cairo: Yeah, whatever. So, brother, where your poems at? Huey: Huh?)

No love lost, I ain't even mad at you

Back you up before my own blood, never had to choose

I matter, dude learn to see the world from another view

Pretty much like blood to me, you're one of the only few

And no dispute could ever seem to change that

Hopefully one day you'll understand just how to face facts

And when you do, dawg that's when you'll see improvement

And your life will fall together than a better labeled blueprint

I'll give a hand where I can if you need it

Take your soul and free it from ever being conceited or misleaded in the wrong path

Your own wrath, can take you down in a second

Just close your eyes for a second and envision all the memories you were luckily blessed with

And to be honest, kid I hope that I'm a part of it

It really sucks how you just turned your back and departed quick

(Jazmine: Do you wanna come over and play video games?

Huey: No. I'm going back home

Jazmine: For good?

Huey: No, I wish. We're going for a funeral, one of my granddad's old friends. I'm gonna get to see my best friend, Cairo

Jazmine: Cairo is your best friend?

Huey: Yeah, but I haven't talked to him since I moved

Jazmine: How can he be your best friend if you never talk to him?)

They say the good die young and I believe it

Cos even though you're breathing, you're really not out there living

Thinking is easy, but acting is difficult

Probably the reason why you still haven't met your goals

(Jazmine: I don't think I have a best friend

Huey: Hm. Sucks for you. Well, if I never come back, have a nice life

Jazmine: Bye)
