Benefit Concert to Support Los Angeles Fire Victims Slated at Intuit Dome

Los Angeles's iconic venue, Intuit Dome, is scheduled to host a benefit concert titled FIREAID. The concert will support the communities in the city that have just been hit with several fires. The event is being publicized as "an evening of music and solidarity" this January 30th. Talent and ticket sale details are forthcoming.

Industry Giants Unite for a Cause

FIREAID is the joint creation of the Azoff family and their competitors, Live Nation and AEG Presents. Money raised will go toward restoring key infrastructure, supporting families displaced by the fire, and improving fire prevention measures. It just so happens the show was scheduled to take place on Feb 2nd - the day before the Grammy's - so organizers knew they'd have a captive audience of musicians in town for the awards.

Fires Wreak Havoc Across Los Angeles

The fires, which began in the Pacific Palisades earlier in the week, have since swept through communities that include Altadena, Studio City, and Runyon Canyon. Most of the fires were still not contained as of Friday, and new ones-including one in Granada Continued to add to the destruction.

Unprecedented Damage and Displacement

With more than 100,000 residents evacuated and over 9,000 structures destroyed, the fires rank among the most destructive natural disasters in U.S. history. The financial toll is staggering, with damages estimated at up to $57 billion, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Music Community Among the Hardest Hit

The music industry has also taken a huge hit, with over 100 executives and artists reportedly losing their homes. Among the famous names who have spoken about their losses on social media are:

  1. The legendary record mixer Bob Clearmountain
  2. Attorney Laurie Soriano
  3. Publicists Kim Grant and Lesley Zimmerman
  4. Zachary Cole Smith from the band DIIV

A document of more than 120 names of those affected, along with links to GoFundMe campaigns, has been in circulation for support of the needy.

Relief Efforts for Music Professionals

MusiCares and the Recording Academy have come forward to try to relieve the sufferings of these music professionals. The Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort by the two organizations has pledged a grant of $1 million to those affected. Those eligible who have been in the music industry for over five years receive up to $1,500 in financial assistance and $500 in food vouchers to see them through the trying times.

FIREAID will surely be a powerful testament to the community. The people of this city and its music industry will come together in a common bond on recovery and resilience.
