Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain Drop an Acoustic Cover of Lil Jon's 'Get Low'

One of the most unexpected collaborations of the year has finally dropped, as T-Pain and Mark Zuckerberg link up to release an acoustic cover of the Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz classic "Get Low". The unlikely duo made the cover as a sweet anniversary present from Zuckerberg to his wife, Priscilla Chan, giving a personal touch to a party anthem.

Tease Before Release

The first hints that the collaboration was in the works came earlier in the week when Zuckerberg took to Instagram Stories on November 12 with a photo of himself and T-Pain. "It's happening guys," the accompanying text read. Next, T-Pain took to his page with the same image, calling Zuckerberg "Z" and teasing, "It is time…". Days later, they dropped the cover under the joint name "Z-Pain," and showed the world their take on the classic.

Revisiting a Hip-Hop Classic

Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz first released "Get Low" in 2002, when it helped launch the group to worldwide stardom. From their album Kings of Crunk, the song then scaled music charts across the globe to No. 2 on both the Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and it topped the Hot Rap Songs chart. Now, over two decades later, Zuckerberg and T-Pain have revisited the track with an acoustic twist.

The Cover in Personal Connection

Zuckerberg said in the Instagram post that "Get Low" was quite meaningful to him and Priscilla. "This song was on when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we play this song on our dating anniversary," he said. "This year, I collaborated with @tpain on our version of this lyrical masterpiece. The soundtrack is on for the track and is also available on Spotify. Love you P ❤️"

A Growing Friendship Between Zuckerberg and T-Pain

The two have been friends over the past few years, with Zuckerberg popping up on one of T-Pain's Instagram livestreams in May 2021. More recently, last month, T-Pain got Zuckerberg a custom "Nappy Boy Meta" chain; Zuckerberg posted a video of himself sporting the chain to show it off, calling it "a vibe," and, of course, showcasing Meta's new Segment Anything AI model.

T-Pain Recognized in Hometown

In honor of the cover release, the hometown hero had been celebrated as the native city of Tallahassee went on to honor him with the Keys to the City and renamed a street "T-Pain Lane." He had impacted this community with his artistry, and now he was going to seal his place as one of the favorite sons of Tallahassee.
